Emergency Feeding Formula

Your Veterinarian can supply you with commercial milk replacer called Esbilac or Mammolac for regular use if necessary. You can get single packs of Esbilac. Click here.
You can use small animal nursing bottles available .Click here.
Feeding tubes are also extremely useful and safe to use.Click here.
Glucose for a newborn:
Mix 1 teaspoon Polycose ( this is contained in the Whelping Supply Kit)
1/8 teaspoon table salt
100 ml water ( there are 30 ml. in an ounce)
Give a 12 oz. pup 4 ml. every 3 - 4 hours.
Here are some formulas sent to me by readers.
Milk Replacement Formula #1
Mix to-gether in a clean container:
8 ounces of water
8 ounces evaporated milk - (I use Pacific - it has a mild taste)
1 beaten egg yolk
1 tablespoon corn syrup
Strain through double cheese cloth into a clean jar and refrigerate.
Feed using a bottle or a feeding tube.
Give 1/2 ml (cc.) for each ounce of body weight every 4 - 6 hours.
Milk Replacement Formula #2
Mix in a 16 ounce container.
4 ounces evaporated milk
2 egg yolks
2 teaspoons Safflower oil
25,000 I.U. Vitamin A
1/2 teaspoon liquid Vitamin B Complex with Iron
Fill the container with whole milk to bring the total amount to 16 ounces.
Milk Replacement Formula #3
1 cup of yogurt plain whole fat
2 eggs
2 cans of evaporated milk
2 tablespoons of whole mayonnaise
Blend in the blender.
Make sure you get the whole (not the low fat) plain yogurt.
Make sure it's evaporated milk and not condensed milk.

Don't forget to 'burp' the puppy if you have to bottle or tube-feed.
